i had no idea it would be like this---
exhausting. tiring. rewarding. exciting.

in the past 3.5 days we have: moved across the state.
rearranged the furniture in the house (switched around bedroom furniture)
moved boxes here there and everywhere.
unpacked about a million boxes.
steamed the carpets. not once or twice. but 6 times.
eaten some INCREDIBLE homemade food from church family.
moved furniture some more.
bought a couch and ottoman.
tried to train a dog.
pulled out carpet (that was steamed)
had our church family over to help pull up more carpet and all the things that go along with that.
cleaned our beautiful hidden hard wood floors.
thanked God that we had beautiful hidden floors.
moved the furniture again.
taken a shower.
moved more furniture.
then. now. finally. sat down.

time for a nap.
its been an incredible ride.
but we are all exhausted.
our church family has welcomed us in with open arms.
fed our bellies.
loved on us.
and loved on the house.

we are so blessed to have an amazing house to live in.
lots of beds--- so come visit.

on a side note..... i mentioned i am starting a new blog.
and i am.
im starting a new chapter in life and want to start a new blog along with it.
ill make the big switch later this week---
but you'll know when.

im moving.
its insane.
our house is a disaster.
our kitchen is packed.
we threw out a lot of spoiled food.
made me feel bad.
we have a twin bed in our living room.
our wii--- its still connected. priorities people.
television and entertainment are the last to be packed.

but it will probably be later.
the movers come thursday.
i have class on wednesday. isn't that awesome.

today i ran a 8k!!
thats five miles folks

and i would like to add-- i have never run 5 miles. haha. i have gotten up to 4 miles- but do to my laziness, packing, being tired from cleaning and packing, school work, and travels i have not been running as much as i should have.

despite that... i FINISHED!
and i wasn't last.
and the course had not closed.
and there were a TONNNN of people at the finish line cheering me on.
it was great. and encouraging. but kinda awkward. haha.

anyway. its 10:30 in the morning-- and ive run 5 miles.
im pretty pleased with myself.

the past several days ive been in the community that ryan and i are moving to in just a few weeks.

im so excited about our future here.

not only is it beautiful!

the people here are so great. genuine. sweet. welcoming. and full of love.

i can't wait to move.

im excited about our new house. our new church. and our new community.

i started my clinicals today-- down the road in black mountain.

and it was a wonderful day.

i loved the clinic site. the patients. the providers. the other office staff.

really-- its just a different way of life here.

slow. genuine. care-free. relaxed. caring. kind.

i really, realllly like it.

i think i just love mountain folks.

there is just something different about them that i love.

im thrilled about the next chapter in our life.

our life in the mountains.

as a pastor's family.

in the country.

with cows as our neighbors.

casseroles in the fridge.

rocking chairs out front.

a swing in the backyard.

and lots and lots of sweet tea.

im pretty sure i was made for this.

we have a dog.

his name is mowgli.

monday he will be 11 weeks old.

he. is. awesome.

almost completely crate trained ((on day 2!))

only pooped 2x inside.

and always pees on the pee pad if he can't make it outside in time.

he is sooooo cute.

knows "no" already.

chews on his toys and is learning not to chew on the rug (good thing it was 10$ at target and already completely worn out)

and he is great at meeting people!

we also saw our new house this past weekend and met lots of church folks.

we are reallllly excited about the move.

but more on that later.

last 12 hour shift tomorrow! i can hardly believe it!!

2.5 more work days until my retirement.

now thats its nearing--

im getting a little sad.

my job sucks-- but at the same time it is incredible.

i see things no 20-something kid should see, i cry with patients, i cry after i get yelled at and harassed BY patients, i get frustrated with the health system, i do cpr and save someone's life, i do cpr and witness a patient's last breath.

if you want to see a real life roller coaster come follow me for 12 hours in the ER. its definitely life changing-- and after my 2 years of working in the ER im definitely a different- but better nurse and person.

in case you were unaware our hospital is in a low income underserved area. our patient population is very poor people who don't have insurance, healthcare or money to take care of themselves. its a frustrating job. but at times its incredibly rewarding.

and.... im going to miss that.

plus a few of my coworkers are pretty amazing people.

and im going to miss them.

so. the countdown ticks away-- and next tuesday i say goodbye to my first 'real career' and continue on my journey to my next career. hmm. i wonder how many i'll have before i'm 30! haha.

in other countdowns: 1 month until we move!!!

the office is totally packed.

a lot of platters and unused dishes/items are packed.

sheets/towels/unused items packed.

did i mention the office is totally packed? 100's of books. ew.

oh and multiple more loads were taken to goodwill.

so its going well.

hola.

so im in spanish this summer.
i was quite worried-- due to my lack of spanish speaking in oh say 5 years. the last spanish i took was sophomore year of college--- luckily i know some pretty decent splangish and do a fair job of communicating with my patients at work. today i had my first clase de espanol. i was a bit worried (preocupado) but. luckily. i knew everything we talked about today in class. i knew the verbs & the vocabulary. thannnkkkk goodness. i am fairly certain i know more spanish than most of the class--- but don't get me wrong. im going to have to study a lot! i don't know ANNYYY medical spanish. we didn't cover any of that today. so that part is going to be tricky. luckily i have a good foundation. and a HUGE desire to speak fluently.

it should be an interesting summer no doubt. 4 classes. moving. driving to durham from canton every wednesday. 2 days of clinical rotations each week. while getting settled in a new house. and running two races. oh and my brother gets married. annnnd my grandma turns 80 and we are having a big throw weekend long throw down. ((the last two things im pumped about. they will be super awesome. and im really excited about moving)) but oh geeze. its gonna be a doooozy. oh yeah. and i have a job. i go back to work tomorrow. but.... only 6 more full days of work before my retirement. thats going to be marvelous. one less thing to worry about!

wellllll. we are back from colorado.

after an INCREDIBLE week with my husband- that FLEW by-- we are home to hot and sunny north carolina.

we had an incredible time hiking- playing in snow- touring breweries- exploring new towns- went to a meadery (honey wine. mm)- walked a million miles- stayed at an INCREDIBLE bed & breakfast, saw ginormous mountains- saw more snow that i dreamed- laughed- played- and enjoyed life.

but now--- today--- back to school for me.

i sat down and went through all my syllabi and am getting caught up on work from last week.

i got seriously organized though-- and put all my dates in my calendar.

from an empty month that looks something like this:

to a month that looks like this:

full of school, work, meetings, and every assignment in between.

bring it on.

(and thats just one month. and doesn't include clinicals every thursday & friday)

july & august look equally as full.

well.
its beautiful here.
we saw the rocky mountains yesterday.
today--- we saw snow. lots of it. in fact since 8am its been snowing and has not stopped.
we went hiking anyway.
around 6 miles! saw some incredible sites. waterfalls snowed over. 20 foot snow drifts. we hiked on a snowy trail that was only 'paved' by other hikers. it was single file. and over the bridges the snow was higher than the rails on the bridge. it was insane.
most incredible snow ive ever seen.
but kinda sucks.
1. you get wet.
2. its cold.
3. there are no incredible views.

tonight we are cuddling up in our cozy cabin.
the snow is falling outside and we have some movies to watch.
should be a lovely cozy night.

i know. im a little behind.

let me tell ya- that closet got me good.

hahaa

i had great success in cleaning out the office and storage closet.

by great success i mean an entire jeep load to goodwill, a trash bin (like the giant ones at the side of the road) full of trash and the recycling bin also filled to the top.

i found things i had not looked at in yearsssss. like some stuff prob 10 years.

its mostly all gone now and it feels soooo good.

after the cleaning i swiftly moved into getting ready for ryan's graduation & the family coming.

friday brought on the fam.

we have eaten a lot. played a lot. talked so much. and had a fabulous weekend.

im so glad the macminn's and snider's get along so well.

its been a lot of fun and i've enjoyed having everyone together.

they are all coming back by before they head out of town today.

and then--- ill probably crash. its exhausting having 9 ppl around!!

oh and of course-- ryan graduated from DUKE divinity last night. it was such a great service. there are lots of pics of his hooding so ill post some. some time. :)

COLORADO TRIP TOMORROW!!!

we fly out tomorrow evening/night and will be off to explore and see what we can see. we have an itinerary and we are set. should be awesome!!

(well. that is if you HAVE tons of crap)

my goodwill pile after going through my closet and 1/3 of the office closet

the current state of the office = a disaster

and the other side:

there is just stuff EVERRRYWHHERRREEEE.

but soon it will all be packed and have a home.

(possibly a home at goodwill)

anyway. i successfully cleaned out our bedroom today.

2 closets of clothes.

1 linen closet.

and my cedar chest. its a chest ive had my whole life that my grandpa built me.

its awesome. i keep "special" things in it.

little did i know that EVERY SINGLE birthday card IVE EVER GOTTEEEENNN was in there.

along with EVERY softball jersey ive ever worn. and team hat.

its a bit obnoxious.

its not cleaned out.

i have a few very special items (that may not be in 8 years-- but right now they are) and threw an entire bag of trash away.

so progress indeed. may the work continue through the night!

when i get on a roll i just don't want to stop!!

our goodwill pile is growing!

yeah thats some awesome lighting.... but basically its a big pile of crap.
we are finding all sorts of 'gems' that we are getting rid of.
i found a basket full of notes and cards from FRESHMAN year of college!
how have i not gotten rid of that before now?!?
oh my.
its a big clean out of our house.
and its going well.
we have a lonnnng way to go though.
my goal for this week: clean out my closet (today we did ry's) and clean out the spare bedroom's closet ((which is my craft/scrapbooking/picture/christmas/camping/sewing/everything else storage))
now you know why its going to take a week!

we have begun the process of moving.

and by that i mean thought about it.

and i have packed 4 boxes (all things we have no need for in the next 2 months, such as photo albums and our favorite books)

ryan has spent HOURS going through all of his school work from college and seminary sorting it into categories and filing it in a filing cabinet. thats been a HUGE success and achievement. its very organized and now he can reference his materials in an easy way. AND he got rid of TONNNSSSS. so now instead of 12 notebooks, he was one cabinet (a small plastic one) with all of his work organized. its awesome.

what else... oh. ive packed up my winter clothes.

and the bigest- we started a goodwill box. as we come across crap we want to get rid of- in the box it goes.

i have 3 weeks off of school and work and need to do as much as i possibly can in these next few weeks so the move will be easier.

speaking of easier we are HOPING to hire movers. yes. hire movers. i have contacted one group here in durham and they sent me a "cube sheet" to fill out to give me an estimate of how much it will cost to move. it made me realize that me and ry dont have too much. the things on this sheet were crazy. well some of it. such as:

organ sm, organ lg, sewing machine, clothes line (isn't that just a rope?), incenerator (what!?@?) generator, iron (really- does this add like a dollar if i do?) plastic crate, sand box (i wonder if they will move the sand also) ash can (really. it says ash can. and its not a typo. trash can is below it. ), and CAT CONDO (prob my fav).

anyway. we have a moving allowance so we are going to see if our moving allowance will allow us to hire movers. i mean we don't have much- but if i can get someone else to haul our HUGE bookshelves, desks, couches and all our millions of books for us-- heck to the yes.

so anyway. if it doesn't work out we are just going to throw a moving party and invite our durham friends. hopefully the church will be at our new house ready to greet us to help us unload! but there again.... you just never know.

peace. im a fan of it.

not sure how i feel about all this stuff-- but i am not out celebrating in the streets. something seems horribly wrong with celebrating the killing of a man. he is an awful man. but it just is not something to celebrate like we won the world cup or something. there is still a war. there are still civilians and troops that will die. terrorism is not over. sadly. its good that the leader is no more- but there will just be another leader. we have a long way to go before we become a peaceful nation. i am so grateful for our freedom in this country and the men and women that serve our country to keep it safe and free. i hope that is clear.

i just am not a fan of the celebration of death and the comments that people say. earlier today mrs clinton said 'taliban you must become peaceful or we will continue to bring you down'. really? 'force' them to be peaceful with guns and fighting? it just makes no sense to me.

and then another guy said we must be ready for retaliation. they are gonna fight back. but he said it with an excited voice. like he was playing a video game and just beat the first level. time to go on to level two.

unfortunately this is not a video game. its real life.

and well--- blogs are places to throw out ideas and thoughts and let the world know how you feel. so thats what im doing. hope you don't mind.

after a wonddderful weekend at the beach- we are home.

it was soooo nice to spend time with family, relax, and take a mini-vacation.

it was much needed time away.

now its time for some major studying.

only 2 tests (one tom & one wed) and a portfolio are between me and my 1 month break from school!!

and just a little update. after some aloe lotion my red legs have turned a nice pink.

and i wore spf 50 the rest of the weekend--- under my t-shirt and LONG skirt that i wore to the beach the rest of the time. haha... i was a site for sure. but i wanted to be at the beach and didn't want my burn to get worse!! and it didn't.

its what i do now.
and im crazy about it.
i don't know why-- ok yeah i do.
every single day that I go out and run i do so much better.
its easy to do something that i see results from day after day.

unlike my stupid tests that i spend hours and hours and hours studying for and then get OK results on my test--- i have spent hours running ((over 15 so far)) and see amazing results every day.
its such a fun great accomplishment.

anyway--- my weekend has been full of some running, studying multiple hours for pharmacology, watching basketball with friends and going to church.

only 4 more weeks of the semester (3 for ry)!! then im free for 3 weeks!!

its def countdown time.

oh and my first race is NEXT WEEKEND!! woooo :)

apparently i have not been blogging enough here for my mom to be happy--- so here is just a tiny shimmer of why i have not blogged.
1. for starters: i have worked 4 out of the last 5 days.
2. today i sat in class all day
3. when i come home from work i either
a. watch tv to unwind
b. spend some time with ryan
c. do homework
d. crash and go to bed

therefore i've been a little bit occupied the last few days. after this week life is looking up!
next week i only work 2 days.
mom and company are coming up for my race!
school will be winding down in april.
i have 3 weeks off school AND WORK in may!
im going to colorado.
ryan and i will be moving.
and i have like 4 races i have signed up for.

since im on the topic of running let me share some exciting news....
I AM RUNNING IN THE PEACHTREE ROAD RACE!!!
july 4th I will be joining 60,000 other people and running down peachtree street. 6 miles at that!
i entered the lottery thinking I would probably not get in--
but holy smokes. monday morning rolled around and there sat in my inbox my e-mail stating i am in!

so-- since thats a huge race. well in fact its the LARGEST 10K in the WORLD i've decided i need to step up my training!! geeze!! so after my april 10 race--- im doing a 5K on april 30. then a 8K in june ((the running of the bulls!-- its in downtown durham)) then doing the 10K in july.

so ill be training for that nonsense all while-- finishing school. working. and moving.
sounds perfect :)

welp. thats about it folks.
except for the--- IT SNOWED the other day. yeah. snow. insane.

im looking forward to a night of running and homework.
big test next week so ill probably be MIA again.

im so far behind blogging! ...if i didn't have a cell phone i probably wouldn't blog at all!!
and of course i need to go now get ready for work.
but here are the basics.

#1. im so so soooo proud of my husband. HE PASSED HIS BOARD INTERVIEW WITH THE UMC!! i mean we all knew he would-- he is amazing and smart and just fabulous- but im so proud of him and all of his hard work. if you dont know anything the basics aabout the board interview-- its like your 'board exam' for anything. its ridiculous. you write crazy amounts of papers-- i think ry's totalled around 96 pages then you go for day long interviews. on top of other millions of meetings leading up to the interview. its intense. and our conferened ((western north carolina)) is a hard one!!

anyway. he passed.... so that means... WE MOVE JUNE 28!!! to our FIRST CHURCH!! wahhHH!
thats another post for another day! im excited. really!! can't wait!!

#2. since ive started running ive totalled 60 miles!!! ---my race is april 10. wooo!

#3 school is crazy.

#4 work is also crazy.

#5 the two of them together are keeping me insanely busy

#6 ryan & i are going on vacation!! colorado!! the week after ry graduates! we are flying out for a week of fun. just the two of us. hiking. waterfalls. the ROCKY mountains. breweries. rafting. there is going to be a million things to do. we can't wait!!

so-- my parents gave me some money for my birthday and i wanted to get something special with it.

something that i would have and remember- ah. thats from my 25th birthday.

so. after some thought and discussion with mom we decided on a pandora bracelet.

and here she is.

the middle is a D. for obvious reasons :)

25. sounds so old.

i always thought when i was younger (like a ~~kid~~- high schooler) i always thought 25 was old.

i figured i would have a kid. why i thought this? i have no idea.

but im glad i dont! haha.

time & place for everything-- kid. not so much right now.

anyway. 25 seems like a monumental year- so i am going to make it that.

not only will i finish up grad school this year- ryan and i will move to our first church! a lot will be going on the next 12 months for sure!! for this year i have made myself a goal: get in the best shape of my life. and run a 1/2 marathon.

of course-- as any good blogger would do-- i have created a new blog.

my running blog.

there are so many things that come up on my runs-- funny things i see, thoughts, etc. i wanted to blog about it. and blog about my process, reaching my goals, my struggles, and my excitement.

i hope you read it occasionally when you want to check in on my running and my journey to becoming a runner.

dear mom.
since you asked me what i wanted for my birthday i thought i would blog you a little something.
when it comes down to it-- i dont really know. i dont need anything.

but a nice new lens would be great. a wide angle- or a fish eye attachment would also be fun. you can get these attachment gizmo's that would make for some pictures. since im doing a big wedding this summer it would be nice/fun to have a few options.

also. i'd be interested in a new book. The Help. i'd like that.

duke toe-goez flip flops still a winner.

of course any fiesta and tervis tumblers fiesta are always welcome.

a new verizon iphone would be like my number one of all time request- but considering the obnoxious price-- i know thats not going to happen.

one last option is the magical gift card. to REI, dicks, target. those stores would allow me to purchase 'gear' for my running fun.

you could also fly me and ryan to new york city for the weekend.
or send us on a cruise.

the chaos, business, insanity of what i call my life.

had a huge test on wednesday that i studied hours upon hours (like easily 10) that i did not do great on.

im in the middle of working 3 days right now.

i had clinic earlier this week.

next week--- spring break--- im in clinic twice and working twice.

really. all i do is go go go.

im ready to stop! just for a day!!

the only thing that i keep constant ((well two things))

ryan and trying to spend time with him in the evenings. dinner. madmen. relaxing.

and my running.

i think its actually keeping me sane this semester.

its something i genuinely look forward to.

i do. no matter what 3,4,5 times a week.

and its time for me to just go run.

my race is coming up soon--- april 10!

next week though-- is my birthday.

which is a day ive taken off work to relax with ryan.

all day friday and saturday and sunday we are doing nothing but relaxing and enjoying ourselves. its my 3 day spring break and i can't wait!!

well since i prob wont blog again until THEN--- really.

so. my friend-- katie b-- she has 'family dinners' and i get jealous because my brother and his gf kels go. and well tonight i got to have dinner with katie b's sister. laura D.

apparently laura is jealous too-- of those family dinners-- that we can't go to because they are in lagrange-- and we are not.

so tonight me and laura had our own family dinner!!

she is south of raleigh. i live north of raleigh. we met in between at a random restaurant and had a MARVELOUS time. no really laura. i LOVED spending time with you!! it was sooo nice to have 'lagrange' talk, and 'medical' talk, and 'girl' talk.

anyway. this is our family dinner:

fried pickles for appetizer. mmmmm.

then french toast, eggs, & sausage.

it was delicious. although the pickles didn't really go well once the real food came. haha...

it started at 6am.

this is us at check in.

we were #55 & #56 in line for the band side.

thats insanely awesome.

((insert here a long day of class then meeting back in line by 5:00pm)

we stood in line. ate pizza. drank wine. hung out with friends.

fastforward to 7:30pm....

us. inside cameron.

in our spots.

and yes. we could see the court that well. we were THAT close.

about 815 here comes dicky v.

he lovessss him some dukies.

so we got a lil crazy with him.

((insert ridiculous basketball game here))

there was a lot of stress. we were down 16 points.

and had the BIGGEST COMEBACK since the '50's.

it was insane. incredible. loud. the place was shaking. my ears were ringing. we were sweating.

the best basketball game i will probably EVER see.

and then.

we won.

so what do we do when we beat our biggest rival--

burn those benches!!!

we burn benches.

and we burn them all night.

it was an incredible day.

something ill never forget.

so thankful for the fun amazing experience.

((sorry it took so long to blog. i had to work 12 hours yesterday-- it was awful. then had clinicals today. also exhausting. BUT I DID SUTURES on a realll person. ill blog that tomorrow. its been a great restful evening and tomorrow im going to get all caught up on life.))

((its been called the biggest rivalry in college sports))

ryan & i have tickets.

me and ryan are checking in at 630 in the AM ((before my BIG test)) in hopes of getting a slightly better spot than the people that check in all day.

(and by check in- we go. check in. stand in line from 6.30am-7.45am. then from 8p-5p line people have an exemption-- to go to class. then at 5pm we get back in line until the game at 9pm. yeah. duke basketball is insane. oh and if you think my 6:30 am is crazy-- people got in LINE TODAY. for the game tomorrow night. yeah. and they can't leave until 8am. really. we are crazy about some basketball here)

its going to be unreal.

i need to focus now and study--- although its really hard.

kinda like a kid before christmas day.

no really. im that excited.

it was a poor decision on my part to start it the second week of school, but dang it.

today was the 4th day in a row that i ran.
i think it was one too many.
should have taken a break-- but 69* was calling my name.
i had to get out there.
it was painful-- especially since i chugged some water before i ran.
oh and other than that glass of water-- i had only had a pepsi today.
yeah. not hydrated.
not a good plan.
but still. im so proud of myself!
i went out there- did my plan for the day. and finished!

im really enjoying this 'running' thing.
hopefully ill stick with it.
i mean: im GOING to.

well. i made i through last week. 5 full days of work, school, and clinic.
the weekend has been very refreshing.
afternoon in the park playing frisbee golf, a very sunny run through the neighborhood, cooking breakfast at the ronald mcdonald house, a basketball game, and loads of homework.
this week... 5 more full days of work, school, clinic and running.
running is my newest addition to the schedule.
im on a 'plan' and im stinking to it.
so far ive actually enjoyed running.
and each time i go i see a difference compared to the time before.
ill keep you posted on the run progress.

welp. time to read a little before work.

so the other day i read this blog post.

and thought wow.

i wish i could do that. here. right now.

i wish i had that.

then i started thinking about my own "net".

and how i do have that group of women to catch me.

the group of women in my life that have made a huge impact. the women i admire. the women who have shaped me. the women that make me laugh. the women that have let me cry on their shoulders, in their laps, in their cars, on their sofas. the women that have taught me to go for my dreams. the women who encourage me and cheer me on as i go for my crazy dreams. the women who believe in ME. the women who have taught me about faith, persevereance, patience. the women who taught me to how to live a life of joy. the women who stood beside me on my wedding day. the women who are there for me at any hour of the day. the women i enjoy drinking wine with and day dreaming about the future. the women i could talk the day away with.

these women are my net.

and although they don't all live close-- they are always there. no matter the time of day. some of these women are new friends-- some are women i've known since i was born. but all mean a significant amount to me. and i know-- if we all got together in a big circle and talked the night away it would be an amazing night.

i am blessed to know each and everyone of you.

ps....... my camera (that has been out of commission a while is finally fixed. after a conversation with a canon 'genius' as ill call him. old guy. knew exactly what to do. and over the phone fixed my camera. well actually-- told me my lens is broken. but we did diagnostic stuff and he figured thats the problem. i tried other lens' and wahlah. my camera works now. very happy to have my camera back and working. very mad that a guy tried to fix it 3 weeks ago and lots of money later he was wrong. very wrong.)

my task today after my classes--

put together my calendar for the semester.

(i use google calendar ((which i love))- but had to write it all out before i could put it all in)

blue: primary care class

yellow: pharmacology

pink: clinical

green: work

circled: duke basketball

and then all the other crap....

but after a few hours i have it put together. my tentative schedule for the next 3 months. (including all reading assignments, papers & tests) right now i could tell you where ill be at what time every day until april 27. 14 weeks from today. 14 weeks. thats only 14 days of class. 14. thats so do-able. i suppose its the work that comes along with those 14 class days along with my full time job. oh and 8 hour clinicals each week-- and ::most important:: spending time with my (amazing) husband-- yeah. all that other stuff-- thats what adds up.

oh my.

it was a daunting day. but i know i can do it. 14 weeks. one day at a time. with a supportive husband at my side- and a group of cheerleaders at home cheering me on--

i can.

went to cool local book stores.
shopped at the mall.
watched movies.
relaxed by the fire.
ate some more gooood food.
hung out with friends.
made some bread.
spent time together- just me & my sweet hubby.

it was so so so good.
a weekend to just breathe and enjoy and not worry about a thing.

sadly my 4 days of glory are over--
back to work.
but feeling refreshed and staying positive.

snow day(s) 2011 have been a major let down.
#1 there is a mere .5 inch on the ground- its all nasty slippery ice.
#2 i still have to work. no matter what my job goes on. they will come get you at your house to ensure you are at work. so no extra vacation or sweet time for my hubby

i did have a nice drive home last night... i got to leave at 930 due to the lack of patients... on my slippery way home i drove through the snow ((which i will say was so so pretty falling-- i love falling snow. love it. it just gracefully drifts through the air. its mezmerizing i tell you.)) anyway. back to the drive. i basically slid my way down 85 last night-- pretty crazy. the snow was covering the highway and so you couldn't see any lines! ya just kinda guessed and drove.

i made it home safely. rested up and headed out today. luckily they treat and plow the roads here so its not so bad. but tonight... there will be ice.... and ill have to drive home in it. ekk.

only 2 more days of work ((i worked extra this week)) before me and ry's last free weekend before school kicks in for both of us. maybe a last minute beach trip? or a drive somewhere else? who knows.... maybe we will stay home and relax.

why hello friends and family.
i know i have been out for a while- ive been slightly busy.

let's see-- the best friend got married in south florida.

ryan & i road tripped it from durham to savannah- then to south florida THEN all the way back to durham ((all the way on i-95)) painful!

i worked on sunday

and have spent the past two days 'catching up'.
paying bills. doing laundry. running a million errands. cleaning well my amazing husband has done most of this). making a gift for a friend. buying school books. making work schedule/CLINICAL schedule. man- its been a very productive two days!

tonight ryan and i are going on a date.
dinner. then going to a really awesome music store (on the hunt for records). then my favorite store (Morgan's Imports). and finally a delicious dessert shop.

we are slowly getting back into the swing of 'real life' although- a week in florida with 75* weather and fun with our friends was soooo amazing.

anyway-- i want to make some for us to have that will be a bit nicer- but still sweet and homemade. found some awesome patterns- so going to mix a few and make my own!

and get my hair cut.
its overdue.
hopefully she will be able to cut my hair- while leaving it as long as possible.

distractions

im reallllly good at finding things to distract me from studying.
such as...
- changing my blog around
- talking to mom
- returning something to bestbuy
-buying stamps
- going shoe shopping
- and then blogging

two tests tomorrow and im lacking motivation to study.
not. much. longer.
i just keep telling myself it will be over soon.

2 weeks until macminn mountain christmas.
3 weeks until a night in savannah with the sniders.
3 weeks 1day until im reunited with my best friend!
3 weeks 4 days and she gets marrrieed!

exciting times ahead. :)

it snowed today.
for lots of hours.
and stuck.
and its soooo pretty.
i opened all of my blinds in the house so i could see it at all times.
it will probably melt all away tomorrow.
but thats ok.
it was beautiful while it lasted!
im hoping since it snowed so early-- maybe, just maybe, me and ryan will have a white christmas!

before i begin... dashboard confessional. in concert. amazing.
wassss soooo much fun.
loved it.

well team. its that time again.
finals.
the first semester of grad school is coming to a close.
and i have 2 tests and another graded patient simulation.
patient simulation being i have a fake patient that i have to come into the room- assess- ask all the right questions- listen in all the right places- do all the right stuff-- then come up with some differential diagnosis. all in 20 minutes. and its all graded. (well pass/fail) lovely fun.
and then 2 tests.
luckily-- i have an awesome job. and they gave me an entire week off of work for finals.
so i can study. write. study. and study more.

so thats what ill be doing for the next 6 days.
see you next weekend--- as a free girl!

my favorite band in highschool was easily... dashboard confessional.
a guy. his 'band' and him singing songs about life. love. tshirts. and driving home...
here is my favorite song.

so they happen to be on their TEN YEAR TOUR! what?!?! ten years.
and ive been listening to them for probably all ten years.

due to their popularity and ticket price i was never able to see them...
until now.
tonight.

im going. with ryan. (what nice husband)
to sing my heart out and see my favorite band ever...
(well at least in the high school/college days)
